In February 2006 – following a request from the UN children’s agency UNICEF – another 220 ShelterBoxes were sent to Khartoum to assist refugees in northern Sudan. A further 220 Boxes were sent to Yei for the use of refugees near the Sudanese-Ugandan border.
In May another 224 boxes, each containing two tents, were sent to Southern Sudan for UNHCR to use in assisting around 4,500 returning refugees. The distribution and use of these boxes was monitored by a ShelterBox Response Team working out of Nairobi in Kenya.
