As part of ShelterBox’s response to the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004, aid was sent to four of the countries worst affected by the tragedy.
More than 100 people were killed and around 10,000 people left homeless after the tsunami flooded all but nine of the 1,190 islands that make up The Maldives. ShelterBox sent 200 boxes to the islands, some of which contained 2 tents. This allowed ShelterBox to provide shelter for up to 3,600 people.
